UVM Hillel:  Honoring the Past and Preparing Students for the Future
In Partnership with Families, Friends and Our Jewish Community

Hillel's mission is to enrich the lives of Jewish undergraduate and graduate students so that they may enrich the Jewish people and the world. Hillel student leaders, professionals and lay leaders are dedicated to creating a pluralistic, welcoming and inclusive environment for Jewish college students, where they are encouraged to grow intellectually, spiritually and socially. Hillel helps students find a balance in being distinctively Jewish and universally human by encouraging them to pursue tzedek (social justice), tikkun olam (repairing the world) and Jewish learning, and to support Israel and global Jewish peoplehood. Hillel is committed to excellence, innovation, accountability and results.

UVM Hillel is a growing, dynamic organization that welcomes all UVM students and strives to provide a safe environment where students can express themselves through the lenses of Jewish culture and religion. Leadership is central to UVM Hillel's work.  Students plan most of Hillel's activities giving them a chance to gain lifelong leadership skills.  Participation in national and international leadership conferences and Jewish immersion trips is highly encouraged as an important part of the Jewish college experience.  UVM Hillel is committed to collaborating and maintaining strong connections between UVM students and the greater Burlington Jewish Community, staff/faculty, parents and alumni.  Promoting sustainable living practices and teaching about the connection between being environmentally conscientious and the Jewish tradition is at the heart of the UVM Hillel community.
