What We’ve Learned

Jewish students at the University of Vermont want to feel supported and find a connection to their growing sense of self, their friends, and the world around them. They want to make a difference in the world and have a successful and meaningful career after they graduate. While in Burlington, they want a space where they can explore their multiple ways of identifying while learning and growing as part of a community.

What We Promise

Hillel at the University of Vermont will deliver high quality, relationship-driven experiences using a platform of mentorship, skill building, and vibrant Jewish life to connect with each of the 2,000 Jewish students at UVM. These students will excitedly share the experiences they have developed and implemented and show others that Hillel is a place where they can be their full selves and have their passionate ideas turn into tangible reality.

Why We Will Succeed

Our talented staff team has developed UVM Hillel into one of the best in the country and is now among the top 40 of “public schools Jews choose.” Hillel professionals use a discovery methodology founded in design thinking to really get to know students for who they are and who they want to be. We provide the resources and support to ensure that every Jewish student will make an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning, and Israel.

UVM Hillel has support from the highest levels of the UVM administration to ensure accessible Jewish life for all. Our unique gift affiliation agreement with the University of Vermont Foundation means that alumni can give back to the institution they hold dear and direct their gift to support Jewish life. Hillel has significant backing to be an integral part of the student experience at the University of Vermont.

How We Are Successful

We will have achieved our mission to ensure every Jewish student is inspired to make an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning and Israel when…

Our past is honored when students find a personal connection to Jewish ritual and tradition.

Our present is vibrant when thousands of students find a place at UVM and in the Jewish community.

Our future is bright as our graduates inspire others to give back to UVM and help change the world.
